The Reproducing Grand
Reproducing or expression pianos are a specialty at PianoPro Service. The added complexity of the expression system requires special skills and knowledge that can only be learned through years of experience. Vigorous testing and calibration is required to make your instrument perform like new. Each expression system has over a dozen different adjustments that interact and require careful calibration. Diagnosing problems in a reproducing piano takes mechanical intuition that our technicians have mastered over the years.
Materials Used
Original materials are used throughout, just as when the piano was first constructed. The finest rubberized cloths are used from Australia, and organic animal ‘hide’ glues are used in every instance. All of the original leather gaskets and valve seats are removed and refitted anew to insure an airtight seal and restore the instrument’s original power and performance. Original twill covered hose is used to restore the instrument’s authentic appearance. Electrical parts are completely cleaned and overhauled, then tested for safety.
Our Work We at PianoPro Service take your Welte, Duo-Art, or Ampico instrument very seriously, and will work very hard to make it right. We spend hours cleaning, detailing and restoring all of the brackets, plates, springs, levers, cranks to new condition. Any metal parts that were originally nickel plated and do not meet our standards will be stripped and re-plated. Any damaged wood or metal pieces are either re-created or professionally repaired. We also have an extensive parts supply, taken from pianos that are no longer serviceable. At PianoPro Service our work is guaranteed and we will not be satisfied until you are satisfied. We handle your machine from start to finish, including the moving of the instrument with our sister division, PianoPro Moving. Please give us a call to discuss all of your repair or restoration needs.
